Chicago, IL, Mar. 17, 2010 - Chicago Chinese Cultural Institute is offering
summer long one-hour Chinatown walking tour on every weekend starting from May 1
to October 31, 2010. “A lot of people come to Chinatown every year. But they
eat, shop and leave. They don’t normally get to know the history and culture
behind this community. ” said Z.J. Tong, president of Chicago Chinese Cultural
Institute. “We are offering this tour to make it educational, informative and
fun for those who visit Chinatown this summer.” Some of the highlights of this one-hour walking tour include Nine Dragon Wall,
Chinatown Gate, the landmark On-Leong Merchants Association Building, Wentworth
Ave. historical commercial street, a Buddhist Temple, St. Therese Catholic
Church where Al Capon’s mother used to go to, and the Chinatown Zodiac Square,
etc. The tour will also touch on Chinese culture and Chinese American history in
Chicago.
